Slinger / Signaller - NPORS Construction Plant

Course

Overview

A Slinger Signaller works with a crane to provide safe direction and supervision to the crane operator. Working as an integral part of the lifting operation, the Slinger Signaller attaches and secures loads using lifting accessories such as chains and slings, signals the movement of suspended loads and guides them safely to a desired location. In addition, through agreed communication methods with the crane operator, they ensure the safety of other workers or site visitors in the area and are one of the most safety critical on-site workers.

By definition Slinging is the process of safely connecting and securing different types of loads to a lift hook using relevant accessories and techniques. Signalling is the method of communicating information to the crane operator using hand signals, or verbal instructions via walkie talkies. This course is aimed at people who want or require a formal qualification for Slinger Signalling. Being a Slinger Signaller requires attention and skill to protect everyone involved. This course delivers the necessary skills, knowledge, and understanding to carry out Slinging and Signalling safely.

Throughout this course we will take the candidate through the training material and support their development, ensuring they are trained to the national occupational standards set by the awarding organisation, NPORS. Utilising a mix of practical and theory-based assessments, candidates will cover safe procedures and responsibilities while participating in practical activities and best practice training conducted on site. The training and assessments follow national standards and are fully accredited by NPORS.
