Slinger / Signaller NVQ Level 2 - CONSTRUCTION PLANT NVQs

Course

Overview

A slinger signaller, sometimes known as a banksman, has a crucial role to play in ensuring the safe operation of lifting equipment, such as cranes on construction sites. Their primary role is to communicate with the crane operator and provide clear and concise signals to guide the movement of loads during lifting operations. Slinger signallers are often involved in assessing the weight and dimensions of the load to be lifted.

They determine the appropriate lifting equipment and slinging methods for a particular lift. Overall, the role of a slinger signaller is critical for maintaining a safe work environment during lifting operations, helping to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of everyone involved. This Level 2 NVQ qualification enables candidates to demonstrate skills, knowledge, understanding and competence in a real workplace environment so they can work as a Slinger / Signaller within the construction industry.

We will assign an assessor to the candidate, and they will arrange to assess this NVQ over two on-site assessments while the candidate is carrying out their day-to-day duties as a slinger/ signaller. The candidates assigned assessor works with them to gather evidence in the form of written questions, observations, photographs, videos, method statements and professional discussions to take forward for verification in a documented portfolio format.

Course

The candidate will be assigned one of our occupationally competent and qualified assessors whose job is to work with them and help them through their programme of learning/assessment. Once this is complete a claim for their qualification will be made.

Course

Location

Due to the nature of the qualification the candidate needs to be assessed in their workplace so our assessors will travel to the candidate’s site to conduct these assessments.

Course

On successfully achieving the SQA Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations – Slinger/Signaller the candidate will qualify for either a blue CPCS or NPORS-CSCS Competent Operator Card. Course

Duration

We advise between 12 – 24 weeks from induction to completion for most Level 2 NVQs. The duration within this timeframe depends on the candidates operating experience, circumstances, and current work load.
