NRSWA Signing, Lighting & Guarding - New Road And Street Works

Course

Overview

This course caters to individuals required to perform tasks related to Unit 01 of the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA), focussing on activities like installing portable/temporary traffic lights, signs, and cones. It underscores the Approved Codes of Practice (ACOP’s), emphasising the procedures and guidelines applicable to employers and contractors. This includes addressing notification requirements and ensuring safety for highway users.

New road and street works are fundamental to keeping our roads safe and traffic moving. In highway maintenance quality work and adherence to national standards is vital to ensure the infrastructure of our carriageways and to keep the supply chain moving without causing adverse delays and soaring costs.

New Roads and Street works can be very hazardous to the untrained operative, pedestrians and live traffic if standards and safe working practices are not carried out. New Roads and Street works are subject to legislation that provides a compulsory framework for highway maintenance activities. The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) sets out objectives to ensure safety, minimise inconvenience to people and traffic, reduce inconvenience to people with a disability and to protect the structure of the road and the apparatus in it.
